Description
Adagio runs a toy and puppet shop in Bremen, sheltering and employing the transformed animal musicians who arrive in town. He hires them to perform music in his establishment, amplifying their renown as performers. His puppet shows feature subversive narratives, including one where forest animals overthrow a wolf invader—an act branded treason by occupying military forces. This leads to his arrest by Colonel Presto’s soldiers.

Imprisoned in a dungeon cell alongside the captured musicians and the boy Trio, Adagio unveils his hidden leadership of the anti-invader underground resistance. Confined next to the protagonists’ cell, the group’s escape occurs when Minuet sheds her human form to slip through the bars as a chicken. She distracts guards by laying eggs, retrieves the cell keys, and frees Adagio, Trio, and the others for flight through the sewers.

After escaping, Adagio takes direct command of guerrilla fighters coordinating strikes against the occupiers. A figure from the Tezuka Star System serves as his second-in-command during these operations. Following Presto’s defeat and the invasion’s collapse, Adagio becomes Trio’s adoptive grandfather, providing the orphaned boy with a stable family.
