Description
General Henri Guisan serves as General of the Swiss Armed Forces during the Second World War, matching his historical role. He aids protagonists Jeudi and Randy by shielding them from threats like Count Germont. His involvement begins when his speeding limousine nearly hits Jeudi and a child named Clara; Jeudi dives to protect Clara, prompting Guisan to immediately exit the vehicle. He accepts full responsibility for the near-accident and ensures their safety, demonstrating humility, accountability, and concern for children despite his high rank.

Guisan recognizes Jeudi's potential familial link to Helene Dunant, Jeudi's maternal grandmother, and partly assists due to this suspicion. His backstory includes a deep past friendship with Jacques Dunant, Jeudi's maternal grandfather. Decades earlier, Jacques arranged Helene’s marriage to Count Germont against her wishes. Guisan intervened by smuggling Helene away to live with Friedrich Brendel, her chosen love. This act permanently fractured his friendship with Jacques, who never spoke to him again.

His protection extends beyond personal ties, as he actively opposes injustice and uses his authority to shelter Jeudi and Randy from Germont’s pursuit throughout their journey. Guisan prioritizes the welfare of Swiss citizens and embodies principled resistance against wartime oppression.
