Description
Yuutarou Katori is the human identity adopted by Fighbird, leader of the Space Police Force. This identity formed when Fighbird inhabited an advanced android body created by Professor Hiroshi Amano during an Earth mission. The android possessed artificial skin, simulated blood circulation, and a human appearance modeled after a handsome young man designed by Haruka Amano. Katori integrated into human society as Dr. Amano's assistant, living with the Amano family to learn about Earth while covertly defending it from threats.
Katori displayed significant cultural naivety and curiosity stemming from his alien origins. He frequently misunderstood human customs and nature, such as mistaking butterflies for pigeons. His eccentric behavior included superhuman feats like throwing baseballs at 500 km/h or running across islands without fatigue. Despite social awkwardness, he formed close bonds, particularly with Kenta Amano, whom he treated like a younger brother. Katori maintained a cheerful, enthusiastic demeanor daily but exhibited fierce dedication to justice when confronting threats.
His primary mission involved combating the space criminal Draias and associated forces. Katori's android body could combine with Dr. Amano's Fire Jet aircraft to form the giant robot Fighbird. For enhanced combat, Fighbird could merge with the support craft Flame Breaster to become Armed Fighbird, wielding weapons like the Dyna Buster beam cannons and the Flame Sword. Combining with the Fire Shuttle created Granbird, while fusion with both Fighbird and Granbird yielded Great Fighbird. The Flame Sword served as his signature finishing weapon across these forms.
Katori possessed extensive abilities through his android form: machine possession allowed him to control and combine with machinery, though damaged equipment became unusable until repaired. He demonstrated superhuman physical capabilities, environmental resilience enabling function in vacuum or extreme depths without sustenance, and enhanced senses including long-range vision, X-ray/infrared detection, spiritual awareness, and radioactivity tracing. He could also communicate with animals and infants.
