Description
Jashin-kun is an ancient dark god, legendary for ruling a primordial beast world until sealed away for 10,000 years. Accidentally resurrected during a duel by Win Kirifuda, he emerged trapped in a diminutive, mascot-like form, a stark contrast to his original intimidating visage. This reduced state confines his universe-destroying powers solely to dueling scenarios, forging a mutual dependency with Win, the only person who can summon him.
Adapting to human society after his return, Jashin-kun displays a fondness for human foods, especially octopus-shaped sausages, alongside a personality blending comedic and cruel traits. He exhibits ruthless tendencies mixed with childish outbursts, particularly when denied snacks or facing inconveniences. Despite often silly behavior, he possesses high intelligence, demonstrated by excelling on difficult academic tests. Emotional volatility causes him to physically split, generating small minions called Noir Abyss, whom he affectionately treats as his children. His abilities extend beyond dueling; he can manifest tools like hammers from his head and forcibly transport duelists into the "World of the Dark God," a special dimension where he administers bizarre punishments to losers.
Throughout his journey, Jashin-kun seeks to reclaim his original power and form. This requires collecting Abyss Cards, which sporadically manifest through Win Kirifuda's emotional growth. Heightened emotional states allow him a temporary powered-up transformation, marked by a rougher personality and distinct speech patterns. His relationship with Win evolves from initial resentment into reluctant cooperation, though he remains prideful and authoritative toward his former Abyss Royale minions, who often mock his current form. In the Duel Masters LOST storyline, Jashin-kun reappears in his true form, hinting at a forgotten pact made with Win prior to the latter's memory loss, though Win no longer recognizes him.
His ongoing development involves strengthening bonds with Win, uncovering new abilities, and navigating his dual role as both a menacing entity and an absurd companion within the human world.
