TV-Series
Description
Hacchi, a young honeybee, enters life amid tragedy when wasps destroy his hive and separate him from his queen mother. Rescued as an egg by a bumblebee servant, he is raised alongside her biological children. Battling rejection and isolation from his adoptive siblings due to his distinct appearance and origins, he later discovers his adoption and royal heritage, sparking a perilous quest to find his biological mother.

His journey carries him through diverse landscapes where he encounters countless insect species and other creatures. He forges bonds with butterflies, caterpillars, ladybugs, grasshoppers, and fellow bees, though many friends succumb tragically to predators, environmental dangers, or violence from antagonistic wasps, spiders, reptiles, and birds. These repeated losses forge his resilience and determination. Traveling, he meets Aya, a female honeybee who becomes his unwavering companion. They eventually learn Aya is his biological sister, another survivor of the initial wasp assault.

Hacchi locates his mother and rescues her from imminent peril. Reunited, they rebuild their bee kingdom with a dedication to peace. This stability shatters in the sequel when wasps attack anew, killing the queen mother. Guided by her spirit, Hacchi and Aya journey to find "Beautiful Hill," a sanctuary to reestablish their kingdom, with Aya destined to become the new queen. They are accompanied by Ten Ten, a ladybug seeking his missing father. Their path brings conflict with Apachi, a wasp bent on revenge against Hacchi for the perceived death of his own father.

Throughout his arduous adventures, Hacchi's optimism and idealism persist despite enduring profound trauma. He exhibits fierce loyalty to friends and a strong sense of justice, frequently intervening to protect others. His experiences cultivate leadership, culminating in his crucial role in founding and defending new bee societies. The 1989 remake retraces his search for his mother, featuring similar interactions and challenges with a comparatively lighter tone.
