Daisuke Hibiki, father to Kenichi and Go Hibiki, co-developed the Mach 5 prototype with his eldest son Kenichi. He witnessed Kenichi's fatal accident during a test drive of this vehicle. Following the tragedy, Daisuke recovered the wreckage and dedicated years to rebuilding the car as a tribute. He integrated the "Safety Seven" system—seven protective devices activated by steering wheel buttons A through G—to prevent driver fatalities. The original "X Engine," undamaged in the crash, was retained in the rebuilt Mach 5. As head of Hibiki Motors, Daisuke oversaw technical development and maintenance of racing machines, including the Mach 5. He mentored apprentice mechanic Takumi Tateishi, who assumed responsibilities comparable to the original series' "Sparky." When his younger son Go pursued professional racing in the rebuilt Mach 5, Daisuke supported him as both engineer and strategic advisor. His technical expertise frequently aided Go in overcoming race challenges and countering rivals' underhanded tactics. Daisuke managed team operations during the World Battle Grand Prix and subsequent Earth Grand Prix, coordinating crew efforts to optimize the Mach 5's performance. His relationship with Go balanced paternal concern with professional respect for his son's career, contrasting with his earlier dynamic with Kenichi. During the series' science-fiction-oriented second arc involving time travel, Daisuke's responsibilities and narrative role remained unchanged.
