Description
Michela, originally named Nozomi Mine, is the Italian localization of a character switched at birth by nurse Michiko Nohara due to a personal grudge against the affluent Koda family. Raised by the impoverished Mine family, who run a food stall in the slums, she believes Shinsuke and Shizuko Mine are her true parents. Her biological parents are Daijiro and Sumiyo Koda, though she remains unaware of this. Michela’s upbringing forges her resilience and work ethic, as she assists with the family stall. Inspired by Shinsuke’s singing, she develops a passion for music and pursues a singing career at a musical academy.

There, she encounters Miki Koda, her biological counterpart raised in wealth. Miki bullies Michela over her socioeconomic status, fueling a competitive rivalry as both strive for musical success. Michela confronts financial barriers and Miki’s attempts to sabotage her using family resources. Her path intertwines with Fanni Moriyama (localized as Hisashi or Fanny), a gentle giant later revealed as the Mines’ biological son, surrendered for adoption due to poverty. Michiko falsely claims Michela and Fanni are biological siblings, causing emotional upheaval and temporary separation before the claim is debunked.

A pivotal Yakuza attack leaves Shinsuke Mine fatally injured. Michela intensifies her singing efforts to fund his medical care, but his death devastates her. Miki suffers a breakdown upon learning Shinsuke was her biological father. Michiko publicly exposes the baby switch during a televised event, shattering both families. Michela grapples with the revelation but ultimately declares the Mines her true parents, reaffirming her loyalty.

In the aftermath, Michela helps Miki reconcile with her biological mother, Sumiyo Koda, and both families gradually unite. Michela persists in her music career, delivering emotionally resonant performances that contrast with Miki’s technically polished but superficial style. She maintains bonds with both families, embodying enduring resilience and integrity.
