Description
Dantetsu Ichimonji, a renowned Japanese astronaut, was framed for treason during humanity's first mission to colonize planet Promete. The renegade scientist Mr. Doppler orchestrated the exploration team's destruction to claim Promete for himself, leading to Dantetsu's disappearance and presumed death. His son Takuma endured societal scorn as the "traitor's son".

A decade later, Dantetsu resurfaced under the alias "Captain Dan", a masked figure suffering extensive amnesia induced by Doppler's brainwashing and a memory-suppressing mask. Despite his memory loss, he retained exceptional piloting skills and an unwavering sense of justice. He joined the Japanese Promete project, "Jasdam", as a rigorous flight instructor for cadets, including his unrecognized son Takuma, emphasizing discipline and combat readiness against Doppler's forces.

As Captain Dan, he played a pivotal role in defending Earth's sole surviving combat robot, the Danguard Ace, from Doppler's early assaults. Dantetsu piloted the Guard Launcher component, forming the robot's head and upper torso during combat. He frequently coordinated with co-pilots operating the lower-body Satellizer module during battles against Doppler's mechanized Mecha Satan armies.

Throughout the conflict, Dantetsu experienced fragmented memory flashes and intense headaches. A significant head injury eventually shattered his amnesia, revealing his true identity to himself and project leader Dr. Oedo. This revelation complicated his relationship with Takuma, who remained unaware of their familial connection. Dantetsu's restored memories fueled his determination to dismantle Doppler's regime and clear his name.

His character arc centered on reconciling dual roles: protective mentor to the cadets and a father seeking redemption. He demonstrated fierce loyalty and extraordinary courage, personally engaging in high-risk missions. After his identity restored, he openly fought alongside Takuma, utilizing Danguard Ace's arsenal like the Pulsar Cannon chest beam and double-bladed Cosmo Arrow spear against Doppler's tyranny.

Dantetsu's legacy encompassed his technical piloting prowess and resilience in overcoming psychological manipulation. His actions were instrumental in Earth's efforts to reclaim Promete, his story rooted in the main television series narrative.
