Description
Ivan Whisky, designated Cyborg 001, was born in Russia to parents Erika and Gamo Whisky. A severe, fatal brain illness struck him in infancy. His father, a renowned but ultimately maddened brain surgeon, performed multiple experimental brain enhancement procedures in a desperate attempt to save him. These unethical experiments unlocked Ivan's latent psychic potential at great personal cost. His mother, Erika, protested the procedures and was murdered by Gamo in certain story continuities. Gamo subsequently abandoned Ivan to the Black Ghost organization.

Within Black Ghost, Ivan became the inaugural subject of the "00 Cyborg" project. Underdeveloped technology at the time of his initial modification necessitated cryogenic stasis alongside future Cyborgs 002, 003, and 004. He remained frozen for roughly forty years until technological advancements permitted further procedures. Upon awakening, he received the designation "Cyborg 001," a title originally intended for Jet Link, who became 002 instead. The early modifications and prolonged cryosleep severely stunted Ivan's physical growth, permanently trapping him in the body of an infant.

Ivan possesses immense psychic abilities resulting from both his father's brain enhancements and Black Ghost's cybernetics. His capabilities include telepathy, telekinesis, extrasensory perception, and teleportation. His telekinesis functions exclusively on inanimate objects or unconscious beings, potentially due to the immense strain or a personal aversion to harming living targets. Telepathy serves as his primary communication method, enabling conversations with teammates and mind-reading. He also exhibits high-level analytical skills, using his enhanced intellect to assess battle situations and supernatural phenomena. However, these powers place tremendous strain on his infant physiology, causing him to fall into extended periods of sleep, often at critical moments. His typical cycle involves 15 days awake followed by 15 days asleep.

Despite his infantile appearance and dependence on caregivers like Cyborg 003 for basic needs, Ivan displays maturity and wisdom far beyond his physical form. He functions as the covert leader of the 00 Cyborg team during missions, leveraging intelligence and psychic insights to guide strategy. His personality blends childlike curiosity with a pragmatic, sometimes ruthless, approach to objectives. He deliberately endangered Cyborg 009 to test the extent of 009's powers, causing initial conflict. Later, he demonstrated willingness to make sacrificial decisions, teleporting 009 into space for a crucial battle knowing retrieval was impossible.

Significant moments include power expansions. In the OVA "Conclusion: GOD'S WAR," Ivan unlocked the latent psychic potential within his fellow cyborgs, granting them enhanced abilities tailored to their existing powers. Simultaneously, he upgraded his own capabilities, gaining the ability to project an astral form capable of freely using his powers while his physical body remained dormant.

Physically, Ivan appears as a baby with light blue hair, often featuring long bangs covering his eyes, which glow when he uses his powers. He frequently uses a yellow pacifier. His red cyborg uniform is modified into a miniature baby gown featuring a white bib instead of a scarf.
