Description
Chan Chanko, designated Cyborg 006, originates from China with divergent backgrounds across adaptations. The 2001 anime depicts him as a restaurant owner who accidentally burned down his establishment during a fire-breathing trick, collapsing into despair before Black Ghost agents captured him. In the manga continuity, he was an impoverished pig farmer whose escaped livestock left him unable to pay taxes; facing starvation, he attempted suicide by hanging until Black Ghost operatives shot the rope and seized him.

Transformed into Cyborg 006, he gained fire-breathing capabilities reaching 3,000 degrees Celsius—sufficient to melt solid rock and tunnel through earth. His rotund physique features distinctive "3"-shaped eyes, a large nose, flat-combed black hair, and a curly mustache. He typically wears the 00 Cyborgs' red military-style uniform with black armbands and a belt holster, though the "Conclusion: GOD'S WAR" OVA outfits him in deep blue attire with a red scarf.

Jovial and morale-boosting, Chan frequently provides meals for the team. He exhibits serious dedication to cooking, instructing fellow cyborgs with strict culinary standards. While often paired with Cyborg 007 for comedic moments, he displays focused intensity during combat or cooking. He operates the "Chang Changku" restaurant franchise in some continuities, achieving notable financial success as a merchant in "009 Re:Cyborg".

His combat role combines tactical tunneling with offensive fire assaults. In "Conclusion: GOD'S WAR", his abilities evolve into pyrokinesis, shaping flames into constructs like dragons for amplified attacks. Post-Black Ghost conflicts see him combating threats like the Blessed organization in "Call of Justice", amid fluctuating public perception between heroism and notoriety.

Chronologically older than he appears due to cryogenic freezing during the 00 Cyborg program's hiatus, his exact birth year remains unspecified. In "Conclusion: GOD'S WAR", he and fellow cyborgs perish and are reborn as humans in the "World of Light" after ascending to a higher plane of existence.
