TV-Series
Description
Commander Robinson, alias General Oka in adaptations, leads the Earth Defense Force and co-designed the super robot Voltes V from Camp Big Falcon, a bird-shaped island headquarters. His daughter Jamie Robinson pilots Voltes V's Volt Lander. He enforces military discipline with inflexible severity, exemplified when he slaps Jamie and sanctions her confinement for leaving her post—despite her success in saving his life and repelling an attack. He conceals a terminal illness from the Voltes Team, refusing medical aid to prioritize operational security and morale.

In episode 31, Jamie is possessed by a Boazanian mind-control ring. Robinson attempts to free her by shooting the ring, risking her life but aiming to destroy the device. He expresses remorse and requests forgiveness before sacrificing himself to divert enemies, enabling her return to the team—an act of partial atonement.

In *Voltes V: Legacy*, portrayed as Oscar Robinson, he trains Jamie in ninjutsu from childhood and initially opposes her pilot role due to safety concerns. Resigning after his cancer diagnosis, he plans to spend his remaining time with her. Oslak, a Boazanian antagonist, mind-controls Jamie into attacking him. Freed from influence, Oscar is shot by Oslak. His final moments include a letter to Jamie affirming pride in her, a detail absent in the original anime.

His death hospitalizes Jamie, prompting her withdrawal from combat. This narrative explores her grief and guilt upon learning of his illness and unfulfilled intentions.
