Description
General Gurul commands the Boazanian military forces under Emperor Zu Zambajil. Dispatched as Earth's invasion commander following prior leaders' failures against Prince Heinel and Voltes V, Gurul displays profound overconfidence in his ability to kill Heinel. This belief fuels multiple unsuccessful attempts against the prince and frequently undermines his strategic effectiveness. He also assumes the role of chief inspector, delivering battlefield setbacks to the Emperor—a duty previously held by Marquis Zaki.

During the Earth campaign, Gurul participates in recapturing rebel scientist Professor Kentaro Goh, only for Goh to escape his custody again. Later, Gurul collaborates with Do Bergan to betray Prince Heinel by deploying a Magmite Bomb against Earth, a plan that fails and extends Gurul's record of operational shortcomings.

As Voltes V advances toward Boaz, Emperor Zambajil orders Gurul and Do Bergan to intercept them. Their initial success falters when Voltes V breaches the Sodom and Gomorrah defenses. Gurul perishes when Voltes V destroys his starship in combat, contributing to the Boazanian uprising fueled by revelations of the Emperor's tyranny.

Some adaptations render his name as "Gururu," reflecting the original Japanese pronunciation. A minor detail notes Gurul displayed timidity when directly ordered to intercept Voltes V, hinting at potential combat deficiencies despite his rank.
