Description
Retsuya Ichimonji is the younger brother of Gouki Ichimonji and son of Ichimonji Masamune. Both brothers trained initially at the Borzoi Racing Academy, where battle racing—centered on destroying opponents' Mini 4WD cars—was the core philosophy. Following Gouki's departure, Retsuya ascended to become Borzoi's top battle racer, achieving the highest S-rank by defeating 100 students in combat races. His personality blended ambition with stoicism, driven by a belief that victory justified any means, including destructive weaponry. This philosophy manifested in his racing style, prioritizing raw power and aggression over technical skill or sportsmanship. His signature vehicle was the Shadow Breaker, coded Z-3 by his father and built on a Super X Chassis. It employed electric plasma systems designed to boost its own speed while damaging opponents' circuits to disable them.

A pivotal shift occurred during the Borzoi Open tournament. Witnessing Gouki's racing spirit—emphasizing freedom and joy over destruction—prompted Retsuya to question Borzoi's battle-centric ethos. Driven by curiosity about Gouki's methods and growing disillusionment, he voluntarily left the academy afterward. He relocated to live with Gouki and their uncle at a workshop affiliated with GEN Manufacturing, marking the start of his ideological transformation.

Retsuya's development accelerated as he sought a new racing identity. Competing alongside Gouki in the Great Japan Cup, his Shadow Breaker was destroyed in a confrontation with the Kusanagi brothers, specifically by Zen Kusanagi's Phantom Blade. This loss forced him to adopt a new car: the Knuckle Breaker. Unlike its predecessor, this vehicle lacked weaponry, relying instead on aerodynamic principles to generate a focused wind barrier at the front for propulsion. Initially, the Knuckle Breaker retained some destructive potential through sheer high-speed impact force, but Retsuya gradually abandoned battle tactics entirely. His racing evolved toward fair competition, focusing solely on speed and track performance without targeting opponents. This transformation solidified after observing Gouki's resilience and experiencing defeats that underscored the limitations of aggression.

By the conclusion of his arc, Retsuya fully embraced the "true spirit" of Mini 4WD racing, prioritizing sportsmanship, technical skill, and mutual respect. He rejected his former battle-racing philosophy, no longer viewing destruction as a valid path to victory. Aligning with Gouki's ideals, the brothers continued collaborating at GEN Manufacturing, refining their cars and techniques in a non-destructive environment. Retsuya's Knuckle Breaker became symbolic of this new approach, devoid of armaments and designed purely for racing. His journey culminated in a commitment to ethical competition, contrasting sharply with his Borzoi origins.

In expanded media, Retsuya appears with both the Shadow Breaker Z3 and Knuckle Breaker in the game *Mini 4WD Hyper Dash Grand Prix*, featured in time-limited events before integration into the main game.
