TV-Series
Description
Emperor Zwordar V, supreme ruler of the feared interstellar White Comet Empire, conquered the entire Andromeda Galaxy before targeting the Milky Way, with Earth as his primary objective. He commands his forces from Gatlantis, a massive artificial city shaped like a deadly white comet that serves as his mobile palace and headquarters.

Zwordar is a ruthless, megalomaniacal, and irredeemable tyrant, characterized by pure evil, a cold heart, and a profound god complex. His greatest flaws are his pride and arrogance, though on rare occasions he has shown fear, particularly in the presence of Teresa, the only being he truly fears.

His origins remain unknown, but he created the White Comet Empire prior to 2201. That year, after subjugating Andromeda, he launched a crusade to conquer the universe. His scouts discovered the injured Supreme Leader Dessler, exiled leader of Gamilas, adrift in space. Despite objections from his consort Sabera, Zwordar had Dessler healed and offered him a chance at redemption by seeking vengeance against the Yamato crew. Dessler accepted, and Zwordar rewarded him with a new flagship.

When Zwordar’s forces detected Teresa transmitting a distress call from Planet Telezart, he dispatched Dessler, Admiral Gorand, and tank commander Zurvival to intercept the Yamato. Teresa confronted the empire directly, knocking the comet fortress off course and handing Zwordar a humiliating defeat.

After this setback, Zwordar ordered Admiral Valsey to invade the Milky Way. He later uncovered Sabera’s conspiracy to frame Dessler, leading him to pardon Dessler and restore his command. At the Battle of Saturn, Valsey’s fleet was destroyed, but Gatlantis appeared and annihilated much of Earth’s fleet, including the flagship Andromeda.

With Earth’s forces in ruins, Zwordar advanced toward the planet. As his empire crumbled during the final battle, he escaped Gatlantis’s destruction in a massive secret dreadnought, “The Portent of Darkness.” From this vessel, he unleashed a more powerful Magma Flame Cannon, slaughtering innocent populations in multiple cities.

During his final bombardment, Zwordar taunted the Yamato crew, proclaiming himself “Emperor of Space” and demanding humanity’s extinction. Teresa appeared carrying the revived Daisuke Shima, instructing the Yamato to return him to Earth while she confronted Zwordar. In his last moments, Zwordar displayed terror and cowardice, screaming as he tried to flee, but Teresa pursued and destroyed both him and his flagship.

In an alternate timeline, Zwordar appears older and more heavily built, with boots, and the White Comet Empire is referenced as potentially still active during the events of Be Forever Yamato.

In the reboot series, his philosophy is expanded: he believes human emotions, especially love, are illogical impulses and the root of suffering. His solution is to eradicate humanity to end suffering. This version leads the Gatlantis Empire, a clone race created as slaves by the Zemurians, and he seeks the Ark of Destruction, an ancient superweapon designed to destroy evil humanoid species. Unable to activate the ark himself, he creates a copy of his deceased Zemurian lover, Sifar Saberah, to pilot the fortress.

After merging with the Ark of Destruction, Zwordar transforms it into a cross-shaped superweapon capable of firing planet-shattering beams. He planned to travel the universe alone, raining judgment upon humanity until all life was extinguished, but this plan was halted by Teresa and the Yamato, resulting in his annihilation.
