Yuko Harada is Shizuku Tsukishima's best friend and classmate at Mukaihara Junior High School. She is fourteen, tall, with brown eyes and brown hair typically styled in two braids. Freckles mark her youthful appearance, and she dislikes them, attempting to avoid worsening them by staying out of the sun.

Yuko embodies a more traditionally feminine romanticism compared to Shizuku, showing greater concern about personal appearance and matters of the heart. Early in the story, she confides in Shizuku about receiving a love letter while simultaneously revealing her own crush on their mutual childhood friend, Sugimura. This situation complicates further when Sugimura, unaware of Yuko's feelings, attempts to advocate for his friend who sent the letter.
