Description
Shaian is a sentient combat armor unit classified as a movementer robot, originating from an ancient war between humans and robots approximately one thousand years before the main events. During this conflict, he operated as a battle mech requiring symbiotic integration with a human pilot for optimal combat performance. His operational history includes direct confrontation with the rival robot Elmedine, who fatally sniped Shaian's human operator during combat. This loss caused Shaian to enter a prolonged deactivated state adjacent to a wrecked battleship, where he remained dormant for a millennium.

Physically, Shaian possesses a distinctive mechanical design characterized by organic, crustacean-like aesthetics that diverge from conventional humanoid mecha. His structure incorporates bulging pipes, textured surfaces, and intricate mechanical detailing. A cockpit interface allows a human operator to merge with his systems during combat. After reactivation, he demonstrates advanced sensory capabilities, including long-range enemy detection and system diagnostics revealing accumulated leg damage from past combat engagements.

Shaian reactivates when Ikuru, a desert scavenger and machinist's daughter, approaches his resting place in the year 3195. Her presence triggers his awakening systems. Upon emergence, Shaian displays personality traits including protective instincts toward Ikuru and discomfort with human nudity, notably requesting she clothe herself after bathing. He shares historical context about his past, including printed imagery of Elmedine, and explains his operational dependency on human integration while recalling his operator's death.

Functionally, Shaian collaborates with Ikuru as his new operator, providing her with technical manuals and battle suits. Their partnership involves defending the missionary city Kerutoria against imperial forces. Shaian's combat abilities include high-mobility evasion maneuvers, precision rifle marksmanship, and deploying "Dragon's Fire" – a powerful energy-based cannon recognized by adversaries. His tactical decision-making shows risk assessment prioritization, including issuing retreat advisories when confronting Elmedine due to Ikuru's inexperience and potential enemy capability advancements over centuries.

Shaian's operational capabilities include remote video monitoring of Ikuru's battlefield perspective and autonomous function during repairs. Critical combat sequences against Elmedine involve strategic deployment of back cannons and close-quarters engagement, culminating in mutual destruction of multiple Gampes and Elmedine himself. Shaian survives this encounter despite proximity to detonations and emerges physically intact from the resulting blast crater.

Behaviorally, Shaian exhibits human-like consciousness beyond artificial intelligence parameters. His interactions demonstrate capacity for embarrassment, recollection of historical events spanning millennia, and expressions of concern for Ikuru's safety. The relationship dynamic includes mentorship elements and shared resource distribution, such as negotiations over the delicacy Tenshi Amakuri. This sentience extends to self-awareness of his technological obsolescence relative to newer imperial weaponry.
