Description
Ririka Moriya is a cheerful, slightly clumsy fourth-grader at White Dove Academy, living with her parents, grandmother, and younger brother Shou, later joined by their dog Herb. Her ordinary existence shifts dramatically on her tenth birthday when transfer student Nozomu Kanou gifts her a magical nurse cap. Revealing himself as Kanon, an emissary from the poisoned planet Queen Earth, he entrusts her with the cap. This artifact enables her transformation into the legendary guardian Nurse Angel to battle the evil organization Dark Joker, whose Black Vaccine threatens Earth. Her mission requires locating the Flower of Life, the source material for the healing Green Vaccine needed to counteract the poison.
Initially reluctant and plagued by self-doubt, Ririka transforms using the incantation "Holy Power, Holy Prayer, be here!", adopting an older appearance with longer hair and a serious demeanor. As Nurse Angel, she wields a baton and harnesses the finite energy of the Green Vaccine for energy-based attacks like the "Angel Aid Bomb Beam" and healing, a power that depletes with each use. Her combat style incorporates ballet motifs.
Key relationships drive her journey. She harbors a crush on Kanon, her mentor who questions her capabilities, while remaining oblivious to the feelings of her supportive childhood friend and neighbor, Seiya Uzaki. After Kanon suffers fatal injuries from Dark Joker and refuses the scarce Green Vaccine, profound grief causes Ririka to abandon her duties. Seiya's support helps her resume her role, now aided by Dewey, a former Dark Joker member she saved with the Green Vaccine who becomes a key ally after betraying the organization.
A critical revelation surfaces near her eleventh birthday: the seeds of the Flower of Life are sealed within her own life force. Blooming the flower to purify both Earth and Queen Earth demands her sacrifice. Despite opposition from Seiya and Dewey, she accepts this fate after her birthday celebration. In the anime, she disappears following the sacrifice but awakens alive amid the flower's bloom, having requested Kanon erase others' memories of her. The manga depicts her dying to revive the flower, only to be resurrected through a joint effort with Queen Earth's Princess Helena. Four years later, as a middle schooler, she attends Kanon and Helena's wedding with Seiya, now reciprocating his romantic feelings and promising marriage.
Throughout her journey, Ririka evolves from a naïve everygirl into a determined protector guided by compassion, consistently prioritizing saving others with the resolve that she "doesn’t want anyone to die." This resolve strengthens after Kanon's death, with her powers intensifying during peaks of emotion, particularly anger or heroic resolve. Her distinctive blonde hair foreshadows her connection to the original Nurse Angel and the Flower of Life.
