Description
Rogue Cheney, originally named Ryos, serves as a mage of the Sabertooth guild and one half of the Twin Dragons alongside Sting Eucliffe. Born over four centuries ago, he was orphaned and mentored by the Shadow Dragon Skiadrum, who embedded his fractured soul into Rogue’s body to combat Dragonization. Skiadrum then erased his presence from Rogue’s memories, leaving him to believe the dragon succumbed to illness. Alongside four fellow Dragon Slayers, Rogue was propelled into the future through the Eclipse Gate on July 7, X777, to leverage the era’s dense Ethernano and confront Acnologia.

A Third Generation Dragon Slayer, Rogue wields innate Shadow Dragon Magic augmented by a Dragon Lacrima. His signature techniques—Shadow Dragon’s Roar, Shadow Dragon’s Slash, and the shadow-infused Shadow Drive—complement his combat prowess. In partnership with Sting, he executes Unison Raids like Holy Shadow Dragon’s Flash Fang, merging light and shadow into devastating strikes.

Rogue’s striking appearance includes disheveled black hair veiling his right eye, crimson slit pupils, and a battle-earned scar across his nose. His wardrobe shifts from a black Sabertooth-adorned cape to a leopard-patterned kimono during the Tartaros conflict. Though he carries a katana, he seldom unsheathes it.

Introspective and taciturn, Rogue contrasts Sting’s boldness, quietly challenging Sabertooth’s merciless ethos. He advocates for guild unity, shielding Yukino from unjust exile and comforting his Exceed companion Frosch with vows of unwavering protection. His disdain for cruelty surfaces when he opposes Lucy Heartfilia’s torture during the Grand Magic Games.

Haunted by loss, Rogue’s inner darkness emerges in a fractured timeline where Frosch’s death drives his future self to manipulate the Eclipse Gate, summoning dragons to destroy Acnologia. This path is erased when present-day Rogue averts Frosch’s demise, quelling his latent shadows.

Once an admirer of Gajeel Redfox and aspiring Phantom Lord recruit, Rogue adapts to Sabertooth’s reformed ideals, balancing quiet resolve with newfound sociability. His bond with Frosch anchors his emotional stability, countering his Dragon Slayer motion sickness—a minor inconvenience in battle.

Beyond combat, Rogue’s role extends to administrative duties, managing guild logistics as depicted in spin-offs like *Twin Dragons of Sabertooth*. His journey underscores resilience against inner corruption, loyalty to comrades, and the transformative power of kinship in dispelling personal demons.
