Description
Moeko Naruse, a high school student, survives an ogre attack in childhood after intervention by a sword-wielding young man. He reveals ogres now reside within her body and foretells she will recall this encounter in three years once they awaken.
Subsequently, unexplained phenomena shield Moeko from dangers—later attributed to the ogres subconsciously protecting their host. These manifestations escalate violently: a baseball deflects mid-air with destructive force, or thrown acid rebounds to injure the aggressor. This isolates Moeko socially; peers deem her "cursed" and orchestrate physical assaults.
Confronted by bullies in the school infirmary, Moeko undergoes a transformation under duress, physically birthing two ogres. She initially perceives them as protective children, relishing their violent retaliation against her tormentors. She later provokes a local gang to test their power, embracing the ogres as instruments of vengeance.
Her perspective shifts when the ogres kill indiscriminately, including her closest friend. Witnessing this brutality, she recognizes her complicity. Cornered during a chaotic car chase initiated by the vengeful gang, Moeko locates her childhood savior. She instructs him that killing her is the only way to permanently destroy the ogres. He complies, striking her down and eradicating the entities. Her final moments are marked by sorrow and the weight of unintended consequences.
