TV-Series
Description
Bakabon's Mother is the wife of Bakabon's Papa and mother to Bakabon and Hajime. A graduate of Kuroyuri Women's University, she was celebrated as the top student and campus Madonna. Papa first spotted her through his telescope from Bakada University during his youth, dubbing her "Shungiku no Kimi" and developing such admiration that he impulsively proposed using pampas grass. Though initially hesitant due to their brief acquaintance, she agreed to a date but declined further proposals until an incident in a park where an intrusive stranger accosted her. When Papa initially refused to intervene, she called out for him to marry her, leading to their union.

Physically tall and slender, she towers over her husband. She possesses round, pitch-black eyes, with a design that evolved over time, and her hair lengthened through artistic iterations, appearing black in manga but sometimes brown in animation. She typically dresses in a blouse or dress with a skirt, an apron, and simple shoes or sandals.

Her personality centers on calmness, patience, and practicality as the family's primary caretaker. She exhibits high tolerance for her husband's and son's antics but demonstrates formidable will and physical strength when provoked by extreme misconduct or threats to her children. She harbors a strong repulsion towards frogs, snakes, and insects. Her hobbies include reading fairy tales and newspapers. She prioritizes cleanliness and order, reacting strongly to unkempt environments. Her agency is underscored by the circumstances of her proposal to Papa.

In the 2018 series "Late Night! The Genius Bakabon," her role as the family stabilizer remains consistent. One narrative involves her intervention when Papa's chaotic attempts to modernize the family lead to Hajime facing false accusations; her anger ultimately restores normalcy. This iteration retains her core traits within contemporary scenarios.

Beyond the main series, she appears in numerous other works by Fujio Akatsuka, including "Oh! Great Jailbreak," "Cat's Eye News," "Wanpei and Mo-chan," and educational titles like "Nyarome's Fun Mathematics Classroom" and "Nyarome's Fun Sexual Education Classroom."
