Description
Hanappe Yamada is a timid and socially awkward Japanese high school student plagued by pervasive bad luck. Local gangs frequently bully him, resulting in humiliating incidents like public pantsing and urination out of fear. His home life offers little solace, marked by parental disappointment—especially from his father, Kyuta Yamada, facing financial ruin from stock market losses—and mockery from his older sister, Mito Yamada. Hanappe harbors an intense, unrequited infatuation with Etsuko Takayanagi, the school's popular "Eternal Virgin." He resorts to voyeuristic behaviors, purchasing unauthorized photos of her and shoplifting a pornographic video to fuel his fantasies, reflecting deep-seated insecurity and desperate longing for validation.

A pivotal moment occurs when Hanappe accidentally summons two demons, Ophisto Bazooka and Mephisto Dance, during a masturbatory act coinciding with a rare planetary alignment. This event irreversibly disrupts his life. The demons embed themselves in his household: Ophisto pursues Hanappe's mother, Michiyo Yamada, while Mephisto forms a lesbian liaison with Mito. Kyuta, bribed with wealth, accepts this arrangement. In exchange, the demons grant Hanappe three wishes. His first wish for physical strength backfires catastrophically when he unintentionally kills his bullies—later revealed as an illusion—and struggles to control the power due to emotional volatility, as it requires a "heart of ice" he cannot maintain. His second wish grants a supernatural ability to induce uncontrollable lust in women via a finger ray (depicted as a phallic transformation in the manga), leading to further humiliation through encounters with undesirable partners and a cross-dresser.

Hanappe's moral conflict intensifies when the demons expose Etsuko's secret affair with a teacher for better grades. Initially idealizing her, he confronts her in an alley and uses his power after she denies the accusations. This triggers a violent, lust-driven rampage from Etsuko, culminating in her accidental death by the demons. Devastated and isolated—his family openly prefers their demonic partners—Hanappe researches demonology at a library, discovering holy pliers as a potential weapon. When the demons retaliate by threatening his family, he surrenders, only to realize his family willingly embraces their new existence. This betrayal drives Hanappe to suicide by jumping from a building.

In the afterlife, Hanappe's spirit encounters the World Tree Spirit, preparing him for reincarnation. Ophisto and Mephisto intervene, revealing unexpected loyalty. They battle monstrous entities within the spiritual realm to rescue him, with Mephisto sacrificing herself to extract Hanappe from a soul-absorption void. The World Tree Spirit notes Hanappe possesses latent "great love power" fueled by emotional connections. Ultimately, the demons return his soul to his body, reviving him and signaling a potential shift in their relationship.
