Description
Keyne Aqua began life as Princess Lashara, heir to a galactic empire. Her existence was defined by deception; the Emperor orchestrated a switch at birth, replacing his biological daughter with a scientist's granddaughter to secure control over a potent energy source, an act that required eliminating his wife, Lashara's mother. Fleeing imperial forces intent on exploiting her unique connection to this energy centuries later, she crash-landed on the desolate Sandy Planet (later revealed as ancient Geminar). To survive, she entered suspended animation for roughly 700 years.
Her awakening was accidental and triggered by Photon Earth, a superhumanly strong inhabitant exploring her derelict ship. His act of scribbling "idiot" (*baka*) on her forehead inadvertently fulfilled a marriage ritual from her culture, where marking a woman's forehead with a man's personal crest signifies matrimony. Unaware of the word's meaning but recognizing the ritual's significance, she accepted Photon as her husband.
Initially pragmatic and occasionally manipulative, Keyne appeared to exploit Photon's protective instincts and their marital bond for her own advantage. Beneath this exterior, however, lay genuine emotional depth and burgeoning affection for him. A fierce rivalry developed with Aun Freya, Photon's childhood friend, sparked by competing affections and clashing personalities, frequently escalating into mutual antagonism.
Her primary armaments are a thigh-mounted band enabling flight and a right-wrist bracelet projecting energy bolts, both powered by Ahou Energy. She possesses sharp strategic thinking and unwavering determination, traits forged during her rebellion against the empire.
The Galactic Emperor, revealed as her biological father, orchestrated the events leading to her pursuit. He deliberately allowed his assassination by the ambitious Papacharino Nanadan, setting Keyne and Photon against Papacharino, who sought godlike power through the energy source she safeguarded. During this conflict, the Emperor subjected her to temporary brainwashing, forcing a violent confrontation with Photon.
After the Emperor's demise and Papacharino's defeat, Keyne remained with Photon. In the conclusion, Photon reaffirmed their bond by rewriting "baka" on her forehead after its erasure, also marking Aun and Princess Lashara Moon, unaware of the cultural implications.
Her story is intrinsically linked to Geminar's ancient history, with elements like Ahou Energy and names such as Lashara persisting into the era depicted in *Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar*.
