Description
Rayna "Ray" Kizuki is a professor of archaeology at the University of Japan who also leads an excavation of the Ord civilization in remote South America. Her grandfather began this research a decade prior but vanished mysteriously, leaving Ray guarding an ancient Ord artifact—a mirror-like object rumored to unlock the civilization's advanced power over light. This duty drives her core motivation.

During her youth, Ray assisted her grandfather and his research assistant, Rieg Vader, developing a strong admiration and youthful crush on Rieg. This ended traumatically with her grandfather's disappearance and Rieg's abrupt departure, leaving Ray with deep distrust. She sees him as a betrayer and grave robber driven by ambition, opposing her own commitment to safeguarding the Ord's dangerous knowledge. She keeps a jade necklace Rieg gave her, a symbol of her unresolved past.

Ray possesses significant martial prowess, holding a black belt in karate and excelling in hand-to-hand combat. She engages in high-speed chases, fights armed adversaries, and navigates perilous environments like booby-trapped ruins and underground rivers. Her physical skills allow her to confront Rieg's forces and face Rieg himself directly.

Her character arc involves confronting her past ties to Rieg and solidifying her ethics. Initially focused on protecting the artifact, she evolves to actively prevent the misuse of Ord technology, even destroying ancient sites. She sabotages Rieg's attempt to harness Ord power within a second temple by using his jade necklace to refract light beams and trigger the complex's destruction, prioritizing global safety over preservation or sentiment.

Her interactions with Mai and Mami Tachibana, twin teenagers who initially steal the Ord mirror seeking treasure, shift from reluctant tolerance to guardianship. Though finding them impulsive and troublesome, she allows them to accompany her and gradually assumes responsibility for their safety in the Ord ruins. She protects them during confrontations with Rieg's forces.

Ray consistently opposes Rieg, convinced the Ord's power—manifested as uncontrollable energy capable of devastating typhoons—is too dangerous for anyone to wield. She believes the Ords destroyed themselves with this technology and is determined to prevent recurrence. Her final confrontation with Rieg involves a physical duel where she counters his sword with a pipe, committed to stopping him as the ruins collapse.
