Description
An Ainu woman devoted to caring for Andō Shōzan, an aging philosopher critical of the ruling elite, she shelters and aids the wounded protagonist, nursing him to recovery. Serving as both protector and interpreter, she bridges communication between the protagonist and Shōzan, decoding fragmented clues about a concealed treasure tied to the protagonist’s lineage. After the protagonist journeys to America, she is cornered by Tenkai, a formidable Shogunate agent, whose threats compel her to take her own life. Her fate intertwines with the Shogunate’s hunt for the treasure and the protagonist’s thirst for retribution, positioning her as a silent casualty of systemic manipulation and covert power clashes. Though her inner struggles and past remain obscured, her decisive actions and tragic end amplify the narrative’s focus on sacrifice and the unseen costs of political intrigue.
