Description
Meeko is the younger sister of Toriyasu. Demonstrating sharp perceptiveness, she alone initially suspects their dog Papadoll's disappearance involves extraordinary forces like aliens or other dimensions, not merely running away. Her personality blends curiosity with bravery, leading her to assist feline scientists in transporting Toriyasu and insisting on joining the journey to Banipal Witt. There, the magical sun transforms her into an anthropomorphic kitten alongside her brother, an event she greets with immediate excitement unlike Toriyasu.
Early in the adventure, Princess Buburina captures and holds Meeko hostage. Temporarily transformed from a human, Meeko possesses unique immunity to Buburina's curse that turns living beings into balloons upon touch. This immunity allows her to openly defy Buburina, insulting her plans and demanding Papadoll's return without immediate consequence. Buburina subsequently plots to exploit her human origin by using Banipal Witt's sunrise to transform her into a permanent monstrous slave.
During captivity, Meeko overhears Buburina's backstory and motivations, gaining crucial insight. She retains agency, attempting escape and later directly participating in thwarting Buburina's scheme by releasing the giant mouse balloon meant to wake the Sleeping Cat. Her emotional connection proves vital when she briefly calms the brainwashed, monstrous Papadoll during a confrontation, succeeding where others fail.
Meeko shares a notably close relationship with the feline scientist Suttoboke, who acts as a protective father figure. Her dynamic with Toriyasu evolves from typical sibling friction into a collaborative partnership facing shared peril. After Papadoll's rescue and their return home, Meeko correctly predicts Buburina's eventual return when the feline scientists reappear at their school seeking help for a new urgent problem.
