Movie
Description
Princess Buburina reigns as Banipal Witt's tyrannical ruler, fueled by extreme entitlement and a conviction that all things belong to her. Her spoiled and vengeful nature stems from a childhood curse: after inadvertently causing a court magician's daughter's death, the grieving magician cursed her touch to transform any native of Banipal Witt into a balloon, sparing humans. She wields this curse as a tool for control and punishment, frequently ballooning dissenters.
Her grand scheme involves filling a colossal mouse-shaped balloon with victims to float near the Sleeping Cat—the entity whose movements support Banipal Witt—intending to deliberately awaken it and unleash catastrophic destruction to crush rebellion. She exploits emotional weaknesses, notably manipulating DohDoh’s cursed devotion (induced by a portrait) to steal the Sorcerer's Arm, a magical glove enabling control over Papadoll. After abducting Toriyasu and Meeko’s dog Papadoll to Banipal Witt, she transforms him into a giant flying monster weapon to terrorize the land.
Buburina habitually avoids accountability, dismissing responsibility for the magician’s daughter’s death and showing no remorse. Her parents, Banipal Witt’s rulers, regret spoiling her, contributing to her destructive behavior. She harbors a pronounced aversion to water, a weakness that proves pivotal during her defeat near the film’s conclusion. In the climactic struggle, her refusal to relinquish control over Papadoll leads her to tear off his collar, nearly killing Toriyasu. This act triggers Papadoll’s memory of his owner, breaking her hold. Entangled in the wreckage of her failed plans, Buburina sinks into the water.
