Description
Benjamin Lefranc, an eleven-year-old football prodigy originally named Hikaru Yoshikawa, relocated from Japan to Genoa, Italy, as an international student due to his father’s diplomatic career. Embracing Genoa as his home despite his multicultural roots, his life shifted tragically when his football-loving parents died in a plane crash. Slated to live with his aunt in France, his path changed when former English football star Albert Robson recognized his talent and became his legal guardian.

Benjamin radiates exceptional kindness and empathy, rescuing children from traffic, saving animals, and comforting strangers selflessly. He forgives mistreatment effortlessly, even from rivals, and prioritizes team unity in football, encouraging perseverance over results. Yet his gentle exterior masks fierce competitiveness; opponents underestimating him face swift on-field consequences, and he confronts toxicity without hesitation.

Discovered as an amateur, his raw skill impressed Robson. After initial reserve status at elite San Podesta Jr.—where star Julian Ray (Eric Townsend in French dubs) scorned him—he joined underdog Team Columbus post-adoption. His arrival propelled Columbus to the Genoa Cup finals; though they narrowly lost to San Podesta Jr., Benjamin outshone Julian individually. Later, he captained Genoa’s city selection to victory over Naples. Facing Columbus’s uncertain future and Italian national team exclusion due to citizenship, he joined Robson’s multinational Jupiter Wings (J.Wings) as captain.

Technically formidable, Benjamin is ambidextrous with masterful ball control and serves as primary playmaker. His signature Aquila Shot (Eagle Shot) is a soaring, dipping long-range strike. During Jupiter Wings’ match against France, he collaborated with Julian and Cesare to create the "triple shot" combo technique. He credits teammates as indispensable to his success, embodying unwavering team spirit.

He forges a father-son bond with Robson, striving to make him proud. Anna Liegi, Robson’s clinic assistant and his Columbus teammate, trains him rigorously while offering cool-sister support. His rivalry with Julian Ray evolves into mutual respect after the Genoa Cup and shared stints for Genoa and Jupiter Wings. Meeting Julian’s sister Catherine Ray (Catherine Townsend), an aspiring ballerina, sparks mutual puppy love; Anna discreetly aids their bond before Catherine’s departure for dance training leaves Benjamin heartbroken.

His core goal—professional football and representing Italy—drives him through adversity: parental loss, team isolation, Julian’s early dominance, Catherine’s exit, and citizenship barriers. Joining Jupiter Wings charts his course toward global achievement.
