Description
Duke Barthélemy Rambert, a French nobleman and once-renowned knight, held the title of his nation’s strongest warrior until his defeat by Japanese adventurer Eiji Shinjo in a duel. This loss forged a fierce rivalry, spurring Duke to pursue redemption through martial tournaments. After a second defeat by Eiji at the first Toshindaibukai, he retreated from combat, only to be drawn back by personal turmoil.

His resolve reignited when his lover, betraying him to join the clandestine Himitsu Kessha under the alias Uranus, allied him with Eiji during the second tournament. Her subsequent death at the hands of Eiji’s brother, Sho, left Duke grappling with unresolved grief, compelling him to withdraw once more.

The third tournament thrust him into a vendetta against the Soshiki, ancient foes of his lineage, who sought to sacrifice him to resurrect the deity Agon Teos. There, he clashed with Balga, a rival knight from a family opposing the Ramberts since the Viking Age, emerging victorious. With the Soshiki’s downfall and Eiji’s triumph over their leader, Duke abandoned combat indefinitely, devoting himself to his noble duties.

Years later, amid Parisian malfested outbreaks, he crossed paths with Estes, a purported healer of the afflicted, and took on Lancelot Lakeknight, an English apprentice, as a protégé.

Wielding the two-handed sword Dernier Ventcour, Duke commands battles through spatial mastery and raw power. His arsenal includes the somersaulting Southern Cross, the crushing Helm Crush, the relentless Coffin, and the Overdrive technique Grand Cross, which unleashes a searing green energy cross.

Beyond combat, he savors afternoon tea, fox hunts, and horse breeding, yet remains wary of women due to past betrayals. His family comprises grandfather Aaron, parents Mitchell and Rachael, siblings Jan and Julia, ex-lover Uranus, and daughter Puella Marionette.

Distinguished by emerald hair and aristocratic garb blending knightly tradition with flamboyant flair, Duke’s journey evolves from rivalry-driven vengeance to guardianship of his heritage, marking a transition from personal anguish to steadfast purpose.
