OVA
Description
Sakada Raiden, codenamed Raiden, is an elite operative in Japan's lethal-force-authorized Special Security Force, partnered directly with primary agent Angel Mikawa. During a pursuit of the communist terrorist group Red May, a getaway van strikes his motorcycle, inflicting critical spinal fractures and paralysis. Voluntarily undergoing cybernetic enhancement under Dr. Ichihara, Raiden receives a powered exoskeleton, becoming a cyborg. His systems incorporate durable ceramic armor resistant to small arms and rockets, internal life-support batteries, and integrated weaponry: a high-caliber Magnum pistol powerful enough to break a normal human's arm, and a laser pistol mounted in his right hand. A specialized anti-psychic membrane coating his armor proves toxic to psychics.

These enhancements grant Raiden significant combat abilities: resistance to psychic attacks, bulletproof durability, and enhanced strength. He demonstrates these capabilities against adversaries like the Hunters and their most powerful psychic, Lucifer. Despite his cybernetic form, Raiden retains his original sense of justice and commitment to protecting civilians, contrasting with Angel's initially more ruthless methods.

His relationship with Angel evolves into mutual reliance and implied romantic tension. In his final act, heavily damaged after battling Lucifer, Raiden seizes her and commands her to shoot him with his Magnum. The shot detonates his armor, killing both himself and Lucifer through the combined explosion and toxic anti-psychic shrapnel.

In the manga adaptation, Raiden's storyline diverges significantly; he does not receive cybernetic enhancements. Instead, Angel undergoes the procedure after an injury. Raiden remains fully human throughout this version.
