He serves the Shinogara, a tyrannical ninja organization secretly controlling Japan, conducting operations tied to its objectives under leadership headed by Hayate Kanuma's father. Following Hayate's assassination of their leader and subsequent flight, pursued by vengeful comrades, Ikkaku operates amidst the resulting internal strife. Hayate sustains a near-fatal injury during escape and transfers his soul into his sister Shiori's body to evade capture. This act forces Shiori to coexist with Hayate's consciousness; her own identity diminishes whenever she summons his abilities to confront Shinogara pursuers like Ikkaku, whose involvement occurs against this backdrop of conflict and pursuit within the organization.
