Description
Pirotess, later known as Sheru in Crystania, originated as a dark elf assassin dispatched to kill Ashram. Instead, she pledged unwavering loyalty and entered his service. During the Lodoss conflict, she undertook critical missions, including an attempt to capture the high elf Deedlit under Wagnard's orders for a sacrificial ritual, which ultimately failed. Her dedication culminated at Fire Dragon Mountain, where she sacrificed herself to shield Ashram from the fire dragon Shooting Star's breath, though later narratives in Crystania revealed her survival.

Accompanying Ashram and the Marmo people in their search for a new homeland, she witnessed his bargain with the god Barbas at Crystania's God Wall. Ashram traded his body for passage, leaving Pirotess to await his return. For the next 300 years, now named Sheru, she remained steadfast in Berudia—named after Ashram's idol—as many of his followers lost hope.

Driven by visions of Ashram's soul tormented by Barbas in the Chaos World, Sheru acquired the Chaos Ring and allied with members of the Fang of the Animal, including Boakes and Jenoba. Her quest intersected with Prince Redon of Da'nan. Despite initial reluctance, she accepted his aid to infiltrate Dayton Castle, where Barbas possessed Ashram's body. Heeding Ashram's plea, Sheru killed his physical form, freeing his soul.

Guided by the entity Yoof, Sheru ventured into the Chaos World to confront Barbas directly. She endured psychological torment and faced a false Ashram conjured by the god. With Redon's help, she navigated a manifestation of Ashram's psyche, confronting an illusion of Beld. To reawaken Ashram's memories, she impaled her own thigh with his sword, Soul Crusher, restoring his identity and enabling him to defeat Barbas. Ashram's soul subsequently departed, and Sheru remained in Berudia, continuing her vigil over his legacy.

Throughout her journey, she maintained a cold, mission-focused demeanor, showing little inclination for friendship or alliances unless they served her objectives. Redon's persistent attempts to connect highlighted her lone-wolf nature and singular devotion. Her appearance featured dark skin, long blonde or white hair, and hazel eyes, typically clad in white attire and wielding a rapier. Linguistically, the name "Pirotess" links to Philotes, a Greek minor goddess of affection and loyalty.
