TV-Series
Description
Torgrim, a former warrior in Askeladd’s band and brother to Atli, is initially portrayed as a burly man with short blond hair, a dark blonde mustache, and green eyes, clad in a teal tunic, gray pants, and brown boots. Following a time skip, his appearance evolves: his hair lengthens, he grows a full goatee, and he adopts chainmail armor.

Sharing his comrades’ contempt for Christian adherents, Torgrim’s demeanor fractures after a clash with Thorkell in battle. The encounter triggers a mental collapse, erasing his memories and reverting his behavior to a fragile, childlike state. This breakdown forces him to abandon Askeladd’s band, seeking refuge with Atli.

Though Torgrim and Atli survive Thorkell’s onslaught, witnessing the warrior’s ferocity precipitates Torgrim’s psychological unraveling. Stripped of his memories and adult faculties, he becomes dependent on Atli’s care, his identity reduced to a shell of his former self.

In the anime adaptation, Torgrim appears earlier in the narrative, replacing unnamed band members in select scenes to establish his presence sooner. His expanded role aligns with his manga arc, maintaining consistency in his tragic trajectory.

His story concludes with a retreat from Viking life, permanently residing under Atli’s guardianship as he navigates existence with a fractured mind.
