Description
Trottolino is the Italian name for the Tin Soldier from Hans Christian Andersen's "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," featured in episode 4 of the series. Manufactured with only one leg due to a shortage of tin, this tin soldier falls deeply in love with a paper ballerina figurine. Despite his physical limitation, he exhibits remarkable steadfastness.

His journey is marked by relentless misfortune: he tumbles from a windowsill, drifts away in a paper boat caught in a gutter's current, and is swallowed whole by a fish. When the fish is later caught and cut open, Trottolino finds himself returned to his original room near the ballerina. Yet, his return is fleeting; a child suddenly throws him into the fireplace's flames. A draft carries the ballerina into the fire beside him. Both are consumed, with Trottolino melting into the shape of a tin heart while the ballerina burns completely, leaving only her tinsel rose behind.

The series frames his tale through the efforts of two pixies, Bollicina and Bingo, who strive to rewrite the endings of Andersen's stories. They intervene directly in Trottolino's narrative but ultimately fail to avert his destined, tragic conclusion.
