Description
Layla Yuki, a major in an alien army locked in interstellar conflict, spearheads a critical mission: recruit Oji Tanaka, formerly Gabriel, the lead guitarist of the disbanded heavy metal band Black Heaven. She operates under the command of Colonel Fomalhaut, leader of her faction's space forces. To approach Oji on Earth discreetly, Layla infiltrates his workplace as a new coworker. Her recruitment hinges on convincing him to play his Gibson Flying V guitar again; his performance generates the unique energy needed to activate her faction's ultimate weapon—a wave-motion gun powered by the intensity and "groove" of hard rock.

Layla's persistent efforts to engage Oji in the war fuel tension in his personal life. Her secretive interactions lead his wife, Yoshiko, to suspect an affair, suspicions heightened when Layla visits their home under the guise of researching Oji's abilities per Fomalhaut's orders. This situation is exacerbated when Layla's subordinates—Kotoko, Eriko, and Rinko—attempt to stage a compromising scenario between Layla and Oji, deepening Yoshiko's doubts.

Layla coordinates closely with her three subordinates on Earth. Their frequent misinterpretations of human customs lead to comedic mishaps, such as mistakenly believing physical intimacy between Layla and Oji is required to activate the weapon. While their actions sometimes complicate her mission, they remain dedicated to supporting her.

As the conflict escalates, Layla adapts her role. When the enemy resurrects Black Heaven's deceased keyboardist, Watanabe, as the eight-armed cybernetic terror "Mechanabe," Layla aids in reuniting the original band. During the final confrontation against this enhanced threat, she steps in as the substitute keyboardist, contributing directly to deploying the weapon.

Layla maintains a professional military demeanor throughout her mission, though subtle indications suggest a growing respect for Oji's dedication to both his family and his musical passion. Her character lacks explicit backstory or development beyond her military function and mission parameters.
