Description
Captain Gaspard is a Spanish soldier and Captain of the Guard, leading a contingent under Commander Gomez. He is uncouth, rather unintelligent, and possesses great physical strength. Gaspard consistently plunges headlong into situations without forethought, favoring brute force over strategy. His actions are driven by a desire for gold and a fierce loyalty to Gomez, and he shows no hesitation in killing the peoples of the New World to achieve these ends.
He initially accompanies Gomez as they lead conquistadors with Pizarro in pursuit of Esteban and his friends, a journey that takes them to the City of Gold from which they fail to retrieve any treasure. Gaspard was then believed to have died alongside Gomez.
Contrary to this belief, he resurfaces in Season 3, now working with the alchemist Ambrosius—who was revealed to be Zares in Season 2—and Isabella LaGuerra. Throughout this season and into Season 4, he acts as an antagonist while also supplying occasional comedic relief.
His character develops further in Season 4, where he ultimately rejoins the protagonists to form the Order of The Condor in the final episodes.
