Bruno J. Global, a Brigadier General in the U.N. Spacy of Italian descent, commanded the SDF-1 Macross during Space War I. Initially serving in the Italian Navy, he transferred to the Far East Navy under Brigadier General Takashi Hayase after the United Nations Government formed. He married Japanese woman Miho in March 2003, facilitated by Hayase as matchmaker.
During the Unification Wars, Global commanded the U.N. Navy submarine *Marco Polo* and later the *Oberth*-class space destroyer *Goddard*. In 2005, he ordered reaction weaponry deployed against the hijacked *Tsiolkovsky*, marking the first ship-to-ship combat use of such arms.
As *Macross* captain, Global prioritized non-aggression protocols during potential alien encounters.
