Description
Born in Europe, Maximilian Jenius joined the U.N. Spacy as a fighter pilot at age 16. Assigned to Vermillion Team under Hikaru Ichijyo, his preternatural talent in mecha piloting became immediately evident despite requiring corrective lenses. This exceptional skill earned him the distinction of repainting his Valkyrie in a unique blue color, symbolizing his status as the force's top pilot. Key exploits during Space War I included infiltrating a Zentradi battleship by disguising his Valkyrie with a Zentradi uniform and playing a crucial role in capturing a factory satellite by displaying his infant daughter Komilia to terrify the culture-shocked Zentradi forces.
His relationship with Zentradi ace pilot Milia Fallyna began when she challenged him to combat. He defeated her three times: first in mecha combat, second in a simulated video game battle, and third in a knife fight. Immediately after the knife fight, he proposed to her, marking the first human-Zentradi marriage. This union was televised as a symbol of interspecies peace. They had seven biological daughters and adopted one Zentradi girl between 2011 and 2031: Komilia Maria Fallyna Jenius (born 2011), the first human-Zentradi child, followed by Miracle, Muse, Therese, Emilia, Miranda, Mylene Flare Jenius (born 2031), and the adopted Moaramia Fallyna Jenius. The name "Fallyna" derived from Milia's lineage and was incorporated into their children's names.
In the film *The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?*, Max's story diverged. After Roy Focker's death, he briefly led Skull Squadron. His encounter with Milia occurred during a Meltrandi assault to retrieve a Protoculture artifact. He pursued her into the command ship of Meltrandi leader Lap Lamiz, defeated her in combat, and upon seeing her, both became enamored. During the final battle against Boddole Zer, a macronized Max fought alongside Milia in specialized blue and red Queadluun-Rau power armor—one of the few scenes depicting him without glasses.
By 2045, Max served as captain of the Battle 7 flagship in the 7th Macross Fleet, with Exsedol Folmo as his advisor. His marriage to Milia became strained, leading to separation, though they maintained daily contact due to her role as mayor of City 7. He exhibited minimal physical aging, attributed by character designers to his "genius" mentality. Protective of their youngest daughter Mylene, he initially forbade her from joining the musically equipped "Sound Force" Valkyrie unit but relented after witnessing her piloting and musical prowess. Despite ongoing conflicts with Milia over Mylene's safety, they reconciled during the Protodeviln crisis, piloting blue and red VF-22 Sturmvogel IIs alongside Mylene in the final battle.
Post-2045, Max founded the flying school "Jenius Air," influencing his granddaughter Mirage Farina Jenius to become a pilot. By 2067, his legacy as a pioneer in human-Zentradi relations was referenced during the Windermere conflict. His combat style evolved from unconventional Valkyrie maneuvers to commanding capital ships like the Macross Gigasion, where his "genius intuition" provided tactical advantages despite not being infallible. Beyond military prowess, he was a skilled cook capable of preparing diverse recipes for events.
