Bruno J. Global, an Italian military officer in the United Nations Spacy, began his career before Space War I during the Unification Wars. He initially served in the Italian Navy before transferring to the Far East Navy under Brigadier General Takashi Hayase. Global commanded the U.N. Navy submarine Marco Polo and later the Oberth-class space destroyer Goddard. In a significant early action, he ordered the destruction of the hijacked sister ship Tsiolkovsky using reaction weaponry, marking the first recorded ship-to-ship combat use of such weapons. By 2009, Global attained the rank of Brigadier General and assumed command as captain of the SDF-1 Macross. On launch day, he advocated peaceful first contact protocols should aliens be encountered. However, when Zentradi forces arrived, the Macross's automated systems initiated hostilities. During the emergency space fold, Global's spatial transfer order inadvertently stranded 50,000 civilians aboard the ship, including his wife Miho Global, who was later lost during a ground assault. Throughout Space War I, Global commanded the Macross, prioritizing evasion and strategic retreats over direct confrontation, often relying on tactical advice from First Lieutenant Misa Hayase. A major tragedy occurred under his command when the ship's malfunctioning omnidirectional barrier collapsed, devastating a city in Ontario and leading to the Macross's temporary exile from Earth. His leadership achieved pivotal milestones, including authorizing the marriage between Zentradi defector Milia Fallyna and Maximilian Jenius, a foundational step toward peace with the Zentradi. Global maintained an old-fashioned demeanor and was frequently seen smoking a pipe, a habit often chastised by the bridge crew despite aiding his concentration. He demonstrated consistent concern for civilian welfare aboard the Macross, though he adhered to U.N. command directives even when conflicted. His relationship with the Hayase family was deeply personal; having no children of his own, he and his wife Miho regarded Misa Hayase as a surrogate daughter after her parents' deaths. Following the war, Global advanced to administrative roles, spearheading reconstruction and the Human Emigration Project—a space colonization initiative designed to ensure humanity's survival against future threats. He rose to full Admiral and Commander of the U.N. Spacy, later becoming U.N. Representative in 2014 before retiring. One of his final official acts was appointing Misa Hayase as captain of the colonization vessel Megaroad-01. His legacy endured through physical commemorations, including the Bruno J. Global Space Port mentioned in *Macross Plus*. A mass-produced Macross-class vessel, the SDFN-4 *Global*, was named in his honor. This ship served as flagship of the 117th Research Fleet studying the Vajra species until its destruction in 2048 during a hostile encounter. The wreckage was later discovered on Gallia IV in 2059, repurposed as a Vajra hive before its final annihilation.
