Description
Lady Kayura, sole survivor of the Ancient One's clan, hailed from a hidden village near Lake Mitama in Nara Prefecture. Her extraordinary power manifested early, marking her as the Ancient One's destined successor. Talpa's forces destroyed her village, killing her parents and abducting her so he could exploit her innate abilities for conquest. Aided by Badamon, Talpa used a spell bound to Kayura's golden amulet to suppress her memories, making her believe she had always served the Dynasty in the Nether Realm; the amulet continuously reinforced this block, ensuring loyalty.

Under Talpa's control, Kayura endured rigorous training, emerging as the Dynasty's most formidable warrior. She exhibited extreme arrogance, self-confidence, and dismissiveness toward all except Talpa and Badamon. Physically, she possessed long dark blue hair and dark blue eyes, displaying distinctive red streaks across them while corrupted. Her attire consisted of minimal armor or a traditional court kimono, emphasizing her role as a living weapon. She wielded twin jitte (Beautiful Star Swords), unleashing her signature attack, Ran Sei Zan (translated as Storm Star Slash or Star Sword Scream), a swirling dance amid wisteria flowers surpassing the Ronin Warriors' power.

Kayura's primary missions involved combating the Ronin Warriors and securing the nine mystical armors for Talpa. She captured Anubis and pursued the Jewel of Life, recognizing its threat to Talpa's dominance. Her inherited power exceeded the Dark Warlords' and countered the nine armors. Control wavered when Ryo Sanada damaged her amulet in battle. Though Talpa briefly recaptured her, the damage allowed suppressed memories to surface, prompting Talpa to have Badamon possess her directly.

A pivotal shift occurred during her final clash with Anubis, who had turned against Talpa. Recognizing her heritage through the Ancient One's staff, Anubis deliberately absorbed her Star Sword Scream attack, restrained her physically, and redirected the blast back at her. This shattered Badamon's possession, freed Kayura from Talpa's influence, and fatally wounded Anubis. With his dying breath, Anubis transferred his Armor of Cruelty to her, restoring her true kind and caring personality; the red streaks vanished from her eyes, symbolizing purification.

Freed, Kayura allied with the Ronin Warriors, inherited the Ancient One's staff, and apologized for her past. She joined the assault on Talpa's stronghold, confronting him alongside the redeemed Dark Warlords, who acknowledged Talpa's deception mirrored her own. After Talpa's defeat, she assumed leadership in the Nether Realm, wearing Anubis's armor helmetless and dedicating herself to rebuilding alongside the former Warlords, upholding the wills of both the Ancient One and Anubis to maintain balance.

In later continuations like the OVA "Message," Kayura maintained her role as Nether Realm guardian, overseeing reconstruction and confronting residual threats emerging from Talpa's power vacuum. She retained the Armor of Cruelty and the Ancient One's staff, symbolizing her dual legacy as warrior and spiritual successor. Personal traits include a love of dancing and a noted dislike of slugs. Her voice reportedly shifted to a higher pitch after redemption, contrasting with the deepening voices typical of Kabuki characters turning evil.
