Description
Shin Mouri, also known as Shin Mori, serves as a central character in the narrative. Hailing from Yamaguchi Prefecture, a region facing the Sea of Japan, he carries a profound connection to water. He is a descendant of the Mouri clan, whose lineage traces back to the historical feudal lord Oe no Hiromoto, with the famed Motonari Mouri among his ancestors. The clan bears the traditional duty of protecting the Hagi Sea and safeguarding the Suiko armor, a legacy passed through generations. The family also maintains practices in pottery, martial arts, and the tea ceremony.

His father died during his early childhood, leading to his upbringing by his mother, who lives with a fragile heart condition, and his older sister, Sayoko. Sayoko later becomes engaged to Ryuusuke, a man with whom Shin initially shared a strained relationship before eventually forming a bond of trust. As the male heir, Shin received training in the spear and the bow to fulfill his familial responsibilities. He discovered the Suiko armor at the bottom of the Hagi Sea during a traditional rite-of-passage dive, retrieving it with help from an orca named Suiki.

Shin exhibits a gentle and polite nature, often showing reluctance toward conflict and violence. He is the oldest among his peers and the only one attending high school at the series' outset. His hobbies include the tea ceremony, cooking, flower arranging, and English conversation. He is an skilled cook and enjoys basketball and swimming. A notable dislike is eating fish that still have the head attached. Despite his generally calm demeanor, he can become formidable when angered. At times, his expressions of concern sound more like those of a guardian than a friend, which can be misinterpreted as meanness. He also experiences moments of loneliness and occasional mischievousness, reflecting his age.

His involvement in the conflict against the demon emperor Arago, also known as Talpa, begins when he and four others confront the invasion in Tokyo. Initially, the group struggles to cooperate but eventually learns to work together, summon their armors, and become the Samurai Troopers. Shin wears the Armor of Torrent (Suiko), representing the element of water and the virtue of Trust (Shin). His primary weapon is the Nijou Yari, a specialized spear. The armor also includes a tanto dagger on the back of the shoulder and tekkotsume claws on the forearm. His special ballistic attack is the Chou Ryuu Ha (Super Wave Crush), which generates a powerful stream of water and can be enhanced to the Choudan Dou Chou Ryuu Ha (Ultra-Ballistic Super Wave Crush). The armor grants him the ability to manipulate water, create whirlpools and waves, and features a helmet face guard that functions as goggles for underwater vision. His abilities extend to exceptional swimming, the capacity to breathe underwater, and communication with marine animals, whom he trusts deeply and who have been known to protect him.

Throughout various story arcs, his perspective on being a warrior evolves. During the events of the Kikoutei densetsu (Legend of the Inferno Armor), he expresses a strong desire to stop fighting and questions the necessity of their continuous battles. This leads to hesitation in supporting Ryo Sanada, resulting in Ryo and Seiji Date being captured. After reflection and a confrontation with Black Blaze, he decides he cannot abandon his friends and rejoins the group in Africa. There, he aids his exhausted companions and has his own armor captured and used in a crystal formation for the Black Inferno Armor. He participates in the final purification of the White and Black Inferno Armors.

In the Gaiden arc, he travels with the group to the United States to search for the captured Seiji. He helps restrain Ryo from acting alone and later assists in battles in Manhattan and Los Angeles against the evil spirit Shikaisen and a mad scientist. He contributes his power to enable Ryo to summon the Inferno armor.

In the Message arc, he is 18 years old, standing 174 cm tall and weighing 63 kg. He wears a blue-gray hoodie over a lavender shirt, pale blue shorts, sneakers, and a white cap.

His relationships with the other four warriors are generally positive. He is a close friend to Ryo Sanada and demonstrates strong loyalty toward him. He is also particularly close to Kento Rei Faun, often teaming up with him and understanding his reactions well. He gets along with Seiji Date and Rowen Hashiba, sharing Seiji's thoughtful approach and depending on Rowen when necessary.

He maintains a deep bond with his family, especially his mother, and remains concerned for her well-being due to her heart condition.
