Description
Sarah Goodman, born Sora Yamato, is a human girl living in 25th-century Tama City, Japan, under the guardianship of her uncle, scientist Dr. Bernard Goodman. She is the fraternal twin sister of Tokio Yamato (Tony Goodman); their parents are unmentioned.
She possesses long pink hair and blue eyes. Her standard outfit includes a long-sleeved yellow top, blue trousers with multiple pockets, brown shoes, and suspenders. She wears two pink bracelets on her left wrist and a translator badge on her left suspender strap.
Empathetic and strongly averse to violence, Sarah prefers peaceful solutions and initially lacks significant future ambitions. By the series' end, however, she declares her intent to become a Time Detective alongside her brother, acknowledging they both have "too many things to do." She overcomes a notable fear of insects, stemming from a childhood incident where Tony dropped a bug on her, by Episode 30.
Sarah exhibits greater intelligence and slightly better physical fitness than Tony. While generally conflict-avoidant, an encounter with the Time Shifter Muscles causes her to transform into a giant with rabbit-like ears. Unwittingly wearing a bunny costume due to clothing damage during the transformation, she experiences significant embarrassment and relinquishes control to Genshi upon realizing her inability to fight effectively.
Her relationships are defined by strong familial bonds and alliances. She frequently pressures Tony about his academic focus, concerned about potential failure, yet their connection remains strong – evidenced when Tony identifies the real Sarah among clones in Episode 35. She assumes a nurturing role towards Genshi. Despite Merlock Holmes's persistent romantic advances, she consistently ignores his flirtations, focusing solely on his role as a Time Detective ally.
A key contribution occurs in Episode 1 when she discovers the fossils of Genshi and Ototan. Throughout the series, she actively participates in Time Police missions, traveling through historical periods to locate and secure Time Shifters – mechanical creatures essential for maintaining the timeline – before antagonists like Petra Fina and the Dark Lord can exploit them.
