Description
Genshi-kun, known as Flint Hammerhead in English adaptations, lived as a young caveboy in the prehistoric era, specifically 100 million BC. He and his father Rocky encountered the time-traveling villain Petra Fina, who fossilized them upon finding the Time Shifter Getalong. Preserved for millennia, their remains were discovered in the 25th century by twins Sarah and Tony Goodman during an archaeological dig. Dr. Bernard Goodman, the twins' uncle and a scientist at the Bureau of Time and Space, used de-fossilization technology to restore Genshi-kun fully. Rocky's restoration was incomplete, resulting in him becoming a sentient stone slab fashioned into a high-tech axe weapon for Genshi-kun to wield.

He possesses a small stature, scruffy black hair tied in a single thick ponytail, and pointed ears. His typical attire consists of a red fur outfit hooked over one shoulder, leather-like shoes tied around his ankles, and a black armband, later adding a belt after joining the Time Police. Genshi-kun radiates optimism and innocence, coupled with a strong protective instinct toward friends. His pure heart and sincere emotional responses, like crying when distressed, enable him to connect with Time Shifters, often triggering their transformation back from corruption. This sincerity allows him to see inherent goodness in others, even adversaries like the Dark Lord, whom he ultimately befriends by appealing to that goodness.

Naive about modern concepts like time travel, baths, or angels, he frequently misunderstands unfamiliar ideas, often asking, "Is it something you eat?" He exhibits infectious enthusiasm for sports, tests, and learning, leading him to admire his teacher, Ms. Iknow (later revealed as Petra Fina). He displays remarkable physical strength and endurance, noted as unnatural even for a caveman, with Merlock Holmes speculating an external tool might be the source. His combat prowess peaks when defending friends, but he becomes significantly weakened when hungry, a vulnerability exploited in missions to hinder the team.

As a Time Detective, his primary mission involves traveling through history to retrieve Time Shifters—magical creatures whose powers could disrupt the timeline if misused. Partnered with Sarah, Tony, and the memory-erasing robotic Pterry, he confronts Petra Fina and the Dark Lord, who seek to exploit the Shifters. He emphasizes non-violence, persuading corrupted Shifters to revert through friendship. His development shows growing leadership, though allies like Jillian Gray and Merlock occasionally criticize his distractibility and unprofessionalism, like playing with Shifters instead of capturing them.

Key relationships define his journey: his bond with Rocky, who provides tactical advice and emotional support; his dynamic with Sarah and Tony, who handle strategy while he focuses on combat; and his rivalry-turned-camaraderie with Merlock. His persistent belief in redemption proves pivotal in the finale, where he defeats the Dark Lord by destroying his power-granting mask and advocating for universal harmony. Post-series, he continues pursuing Petra Fina through time as a protector of history.

Genshi-kun's story underscores themes of friendship and humanity's capacity for good, with historical figures retaining subtle memories of encounters despite timeline corrections. The character lacks references to a mother, with neither he nor Rocky having any recollection of her.
