OVA
Description
**Original Novel *Makai Tensho*:**
Yui Shosetsu is a historical conspirator who aligns with Mori Soiken following the Shimabara Rebellion. Together, they plot to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate by employing the "Makai Tensho" ritual. This ritual resurrects deceased legendary warriors, including Amakusa Shirō, Miyamoto Musashi, and Araki Mataemon, as demonic entities under their command.
***Ninja Resurrection* OVA (*Makai Tensho: Jigoku-hen*):**
Portrayed as a human collaborator with Mori Soiken, Yui Shosetsu commands resurrected warriors like Inshun Hozoin, Mataemon Araki, and Botaro Tamiya to slaughter spies and civilians. During a blood moon ritual, he assists in the demonic rebirth of Amakusa Shirō, leading to a massacre at a festival as part of Shirō’s vengeance against Japan.
***Fate/Samurai Remnant* Universe:**
Yui Shosetsu is reimagined as a homunculus created by Mori Souiken using incomplete Einzbern alchemy. She is a pseudo-homunculus gestated within a human surrogate, intended to become Souiken’s ideal "new humanity" meant to replace existing humans. After Souiken’s death in the Shimabara Rebellion, she was adopted by a samurai family and became a respected military scholar in Edo. She ran the Choukou Hall academy, admired by ronin students, while concealing her gender and living under a male identity to maintain her position.
This version possesses homunculus traits: high intelligence, exceptional Magic Circuits, rapid regenerative healing, and a short lifespan. Her magecraft specialty is elemental conversion, viewed solely as a combat tool. A unique ability allows her to create copies of herself when connected to a major magical energy source like a Leyline or Holy Grail; the living version generates clones at a slow rate, approximately one per year. She wields a sword crafted by Senji Muramasa.
Personality-wise, she adheres to a firm code of honor, avoids unnecessary killings, and is characterized as honest, pure, and genuinely concerned with social justice. Her idealism fuels her involvement in the Waxing Moon Ritual, where her wish is to eliminate societal flaws like poverty and create a world of equality. During these events, she develops an unconscious attraction to Miyamoto Iori, whose humanity reminds her of Souiken’s stories about Amakusa Shirō.
