Description
Hozoin Inshun, originating from Hozoin Temple, trained as a monk and mastered Hozoin Style Spearmanship. His early life included significant trauma when he witnessed his parents' violent deaths in a forest, leaving him orphaned. This event fueled his pursuit of martial excellence to overcome guilt and weakness. Recognized as a prodigious spearman, he was designated the Second Generation Master of the Hozoin Spear Technique due to his exceptional skill. Despite his talent, he maintained a reclusive demeanor, often distancing himself from peers.

In other portrayals, he appears younger, exhibiting a surprisingly juvenile and materialistic attitude despite his monastic status. He displays impatience with perceived condescension and readily engages in confrontations when provoked. This version shows excitement for combat and openly expresses desires for material rewards, like claiming an extravagant boat for tournament victory. He also demonstrates an aversion to spicy foods. His demeanor combines underlying battle enthusiasm with occasional petulance.

Within a specific storyline, he is resurrected through the demonic ritual Makai Tensho, becoming an agent under Amakusa Shirō, who embraced a satanic destiny. In this resurrected state, he participates in indiscriminate slaughter alongside other revived warriors, targeting civilians including children during a festival massacre. He aligns with darker forces seeking vengeance against the Tokugawa regime. His resurrection occurs years after his initial death, and he operates within a group carrying out apocalyptic violence.

His primary weapon is the jūmonji yari, a cross-shaped spear. His fighting style emphasizes dynamic footwork, high-speed thrusts from multiple angles, and acrobatic maneuvers like pole-vaults for evasion and counterattacks. Techniques include using environmental objects for obscuration and employing throws that ricochet off surfaces. The style relies on speed and agility over blocking power, reflecting his typically depicted stature.
