Miharu Ratokie is a citizen of Belfast, Ireland who turns to espionage for the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War after her parents perish in the conflict. As the sole provider for her younger siblings, Jill and Milly Ratokie, she uses her payment from Zeon to secure food and necessities for them. Operating under the code number 107, she gathers intelligence on Earth Federation forces, photographing the SCV-70 White Base during its repairs and transmitting information via balloon-delivery to Zeon's Mad Angler squadron. Posing as a street vendor while spying on the White Base crew, she encounters Kai Shiden, an RX-77-2 Guncannon pilot, after he nearly strikes her with his car during a Zeon attack. She invites him to her home, where he deduces her role as a spy yet sympathizes with her dire circumstances. Despite her mission, she develops genuine affection for Kai, creating an internal conflict between her duties and personal emotions. Zeon supplies her with money and a Federation uniform to infiltrate the White Base. After giving the payment to her siblings and bidding them an emotional farewell, she successfully boards the ship disguised as a soldier during an attack. While searching Captain Bright Noa's quarters for intelligence, Kai discovers her due to a tear in her uniform but helps conceal her identity. A Zeon vessel disguised as a fishing boat later contacts her with instructions to locate the "white mobile suit" aboard. Witnessing children assisting during an onboard fire reminds her of her own siblings, and consumed by guilt, she confesses her espionage to Kai and expresses a desire to help defend the White Base. During a battle over the Atlantic Ocean against Flanagan Boone's MAM-07 Grublo and MSM-07 Z'Gok units, she joins Kai in a Gunperry transport to aid in the defense. When the Gunperry is damaged and its missile systems disabled, she volunteers to manually fire the missiles from the launch catapult. She successfully activates the missiles, contributing to the destruction of Boone's Grublo, but is thrown from the aircraft by the exhaust blast and falls to her death into the ocean. In the compilation movie version, her missile fire directly kills Boone. Her death profoundly impacts Kai Shiden, catalyzing his evolution from a selfish soldier to a more caring and responsible individual. After her death, her younger sister Milly is taken in by Kai, while her brother Jill is later captured by the Titans and becomes a test subject piloting the MRX-008 Prototype Psycho Gundam. In the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin adaptation, her storyline features variations. She similarly befriends Kai and infiltrates the White Base, but during the battle, after manually firing missiles from the damaged Gunperry, she is blown into a wall rather than falling immediately, and her ultimate fate remains ambiguous. In this version, she later appears to Kai as a spirit, consoling him and expressing her wish to have spent more time with him and her siblings. Her character arc emphasizes themes of sacrifice, moral conflict, and the impact of war on civilians, particularly how it drives individuals to extreme measures for family survival. Her actions and relationship with Kai serve as a catalyst for his ongoing development, influencing his later career as a journalist and advocate for civilian protection.
