Description
Rangiku Fumiwatari stands as the last survivor of her clan, annihilated by feudal lord Sadayoshi Karimata's massacre. Karimata slaughtered her family to seize her father Hisashige Fumiwatari's secrets for crafting specialized combat puppets. Driven by vengeance, Rangiku now travels with three of her father's most powerful puppet warriors.

She bears distinctive black hair and a massive scar stretching from her shoulders down her back. This scar originates from her childhood, inflicted when her father flayed her skin. He harvested her living flesh, alongside that of other children, to create the organic components vital for the puppets. Rangiku wields the unique ability to control these complex constructs in battle using nearly invisible, ultra-fine strings manipulated precisely with her hands and feet. This demanding technique occupies her limbs entirely during combat, rendering her defenseless and reliant on allies for protection.

Her personality presents a contrast: outwardly mild-mannered, clumsy, and occasionally naive or forgetful, yet shifting to intensely focused and formidable in battle. Rangiku displays innocence regarding adult concepts like physical intimacy, reacting to nudity or sexual advances with obliviousness rather than fear. Deep trauma lingers beneath, rooted in her horrific past and profound loss.

Her quest for aid leads her to seek a legendary ninja but instead crosses paths with Yasaburo Manajiri, a vagabond ninja hunted by "deathless" warriors. Discovering their shared enemy in Karimata, they forge a partnership. Manajiri provides crucial protection while Rangiku manipulates her puppets. As they infiltrate Karimata's castle, Rangiku gradually reveals the dark secret of the puppets' creation from harvested child flesh to Manajiri.

In the final confrontation against Karimata—who commands her father's strongest puppet and believes she can control only one puppet at once—Rangiku employs strategic deception. She creates the illusion of controlling four puppets simultaneously. This tactic, achieved through Manajiri's illusions and Rangiku disguising herself as one puppet, exploits Karimata's assumptions and creates the critical opening for her victory.
