Ogaki Kikuko, daughter of judo master Yagoro Ogaki, lives and trains at her father's dojo in Tokyo. Inheriting her father's expertise, she possesses advanced judo skills and proficiency in various techniques despite her youth. When country boy Daizaemon Kaze arrives in Tokyo seeking judo training after his father's death, Kikuko becomes one of his primary instructors alongside the cat Nyanko-sensei. She trains Daizaemon, teaching him specific judo tricks and contributing significantly to his development as a practitioner. Daizaemon develops romantic feelings for her upon their first meeting. Kikuko maintains a consistently supportive role in his training, often collaborating with Nyanko-sensei. Her teaching approach blends technical instruction with encouragement, reflecting a deep familiarity with judo fundamentals cultivated through her dojo upbringing, and she exhibits a competitive spirit focused on mastering the art.
