OVA
Description
Dr. Stinger, a human scientist specializing in Getter Ray physics, falls under the control of extraterrestrial Invader parasites. Before his transformation, he collaborated with Dr. Saotome and Dr. Cowen on lunar Getter Energy research. Post-infection, Stinger and Cowen develop a fixation on Getter Rays and Darwinian evolution, viewing the Invaders as evolution's ultimate form.
Stinger exhibits blue or light green scaly skin, brown or green messy hair, and elongated white eyes. He dons a tan coat over a blue vest, green shirt, and red tie. Merging with Cowen during their final clash, Stinger becomes the upper torso of a monstrous fusion—featuring five leg pairs, a protracted neck, and a tail—functioning as an energy-transmitting antenna.
Stinger and Cowen coerce the Japanese government into enabling their schemes, such as launching a nuclear missile to saturate Earth with Getter Rays. They eliminate interfering ambassadors and intercept the Getter Team’s sabotage attempt, mocking the pilots before fleeing. Post-detonation, they aid Dr. Saotome in constructing the Metal Beast Dragon, a Shin Getter Robo-derived weapon.
After the Metal Beast Dragon’s destruction, they retreat to Jupiter with its remnants. There, they hurl its Getter Furnace into the planet, igniting Jupiter as a secondary Getter sun. They entreat the Getter Team to embrace their cause, declaring Getter Rays the evolutionary catalyst for humans and Invaders alike. Upon refusal, they merge into a colossal Invader entity, later cleaved in half by Shin Getter Robo’s Final Tomahawk.
Beyond the OVA, Stinger features in crossovers like *Super Robot Wars Z2*. In these, he and Cowen masquerade as conscientious scientists at UN conferences, publicly downplaying the Invader threat to global leaders while covertly progressing their agenda. They dismiss Saotome’s alerts as hysterical and falsely assert Invader damage would remain contained.
