Description
Toru Yuge leads Tokken, a specialized agency investigating supernatural crime. A police academy graduate who left after not being taken seriously, he founded or joined Tokken where he directs operations. His investigation centers on mysterious murders linked to Academy student Jody Crowley, driving him to collaborate with nun Hiroko Takashiro to unravel and stop Crowley's dark plot involving occult rituals.

Physically, Yuge is a large, bald man in his 40s or 50s with a gray goatee. He perpetually wears gold-rimmed sunglasses, even in darkness. Unlike his Tokken subordinates, he forgoes a uniform for a formal black suit bearing the Tokken logo patch and a red cravat, often adding a long khaki trenchcoat outdoors.

Yuge recruits Kurumi Imari into Tokken after witnessing her psychic abilities during a criminal investigation where she accurately identified a perpetrator. This begins their partnership. He later coordinates with agents Imari and Aki Ichikawa to investigate ritualistic murders, including victims at a museum and on a school rooftop. During the rooftop inquiry, Jody Crowley attacks them, injuring police investigator Naoto Yamanishi.

Following a bank incident where Imari and Aki were dispatched, Yuge revives the unconscious Aki and regroups with Imari, unaware Reika Kitami now possesses Imari's body. At Tokken headquarters, he connects the stolen Spear of Longinus artifact to the murders, orders a crackdown on devil-worshiping cults, and tasks Aki with secretly probing the Academy.

His inquiry expands to occultist Aleister Crowley's writings, revealing followers seek the prophesied "woman in red." After Aki is hospitalized, Yuge traces the nun who aided her—Hiroko Takashiro. At her cabin, they theorize Jody aims to revive Kitami to locate the woman. Yuge realizes Kitami controls Imari's body, endangering his team. They are attacked by Jody but counter with Takashiro's magic.

In the final confrontation within the Academy basement, Yuge frees Takashiro from restraints and provides her magical arrows. When possessed Yamanishi restrains him, Yuge breaks free and shoots the Bible Black grimoire with his handgun per Takashiro's guidance. This neutralizes the book, kills Jody's guards, and ends the ritual. He later meets Takashiro and Yamanishi at a greenhouse, dryly noting the difficulty of reporting these events.

Personality-wise, Yuge balances calculated deliberation with decisive action during investigations, showing particular disdain for occult groups. He discourages subordinates from saluting, emphasizing Tokken isn't police. He demonstrates concern for agents, notably checking on Aki after the bank incident and worrying for her and Yamanishi's safety upon learning of Kitami's possession.
