Description
Alexis Kerib stands as the primary antagonist. An immortal cosmic entity originating from a realm beyond the human world, sometimes called the Hyper World, his existence is defined by profound boredom and emptiness inherent in immortality. This drives him to seek fulfillment through manipulating others and inducing suffering. He derives satisfaction from crushing ideals and exploits negative human emotions, harnessing them as a power source.
Outwardly, Alexis displays a calm, polite, and gentlemanly demeanor, often speaking courteously. This facade conceals his true parasitic nature as a manipulator who identifies vulnerable individuals to exploit. He forms a significant partnership with Akane Shinjo, a human girl whose negative emotions and insecurities he detects and amplifies. Positioning himself as her ally, he assists her in creating a personalized virtual world. Covertly, he uses her creations—kaiju—to instigate cycles of destruction and reconstruction within Tsutsujidai city, generating the despair and emotional turmoil he feeds upon for amusement and sustenance.
His abilities are central to his role. His signature power, Instance Abreaction, animates kaiju from sculpted models designed by Akane. He can resurrect defeated kaiju en masse and transform humans into kaiju, as demonstrated with Akane becoming Zegga. Additional capabilities include teleportation within the computer world, energy manipulation (firing blasts and beams), portal generation, attention manipulation to hide from ordinary humans, and enhanced reflexes. He can assume a flame form and conjure weapons like swords or spears for combat. Absorbing Akane's intensified negative emotions triggers his evolution into a towering 75-meter combat form, Giant Alexis Kerib. This form retains his base abilities while exhibiting immense strength, energy projection, and near-instantaneous regeneration fueled by negativity; his immortality here is conditional, reliant on absorbed negative emotions.
His history involves a prior conflict where he defeated Gridman by splitting the latter's consciousness. Throughout the narrative, he orchestrates kaiju attacks by enabling Akane's designs while subtly undermining her mental state. He intervenes directly at times, such as confronting the kaiju Anti, disarming and scarring him. As Akane's resolve wanes, he resurrects past kaiju without her consent. Ultimately, he uses Instance Abreaction on Akane herself, transforming her into a kaiju. Defeated by Gridman, who severs his connection to Akane's negativity via the Fixer Beam, Alexis is reduced to a shard and sealed away.
In later media, his sealed form is manipulated by Akane through Instance Domination, merging them into a unified entity: Alexis Kerib (New Order). Standing 59 meters tall, this form retains Instance Abreaction and regenerative immortality but exhibits vulnerability under rapid bodily destruction and reconstruction. Merged, he assists Gridman and allies against the multiversal threat Mad Origin. Consumed by Mad Origin during the conflict, he facilitates the enemy's defeat by allowing his infinite energy to be weaponized. In his final moments, physically faded and crumbling, he expresses a newfound appreciation for the limitations of mortal existence before disintegrating into dust. Custodians of his sealed fragment speculate on his potential return, indicating persistence as a latent threat.
Conflicting interpretations exist regarding his origins. One perspective suggests he may represent a corrupted future incarnation of Over Justice (*Space Patrol Luluco*) after millennia of multiversal travel eroded his ideals, transforming him into Alexis Kerib until Gridman's Fixer Beam restored his original self, potentially allowing reemergence as Gridman Justice. This backstory is also noted as potentially apocryphal or misinterpreted. His visual design incorporates elements inspired by Over Justice, Scourge (Black Convoy) from *Transformers: Robots in Disguise*, and aesthetic motifs from other animated works like *Kill la Kill*.
His relationships are defined by utility and manipulation. He views Akane Shinjo as both a pawn and a source of sustenance, feigning support while exacerbating her vulnerabilities. He displays contempt for others, dismissing Rikka Takarada as hollow, Shō Utsumi as shallow, and Yūta Hibiki as superficial, reflecting his view of them as artificial constructs within Akane's world. His interactions with the kaiju Anti involve overt betrayal after initial feigned politeness. He also exhibits curiosity or strategic interest in other powerful dimensional beings like Ultraman Z or Evangelion units, though these remain ancillary.
